The Sagrada Família, in all it overflowing richness of forms and symbols, expresses that devotion without pause or limit. The basilica is, in its very structure, a vast prayeroffered to God, and inviting each of us to rediscover God in stone, in color, in light. This small volume poetic and intentionally brief seeks to celebrate that inner dimension, that depth of spirit. May it invite readers to take part in the great prayer that Gaudí so sparing in words, so abundant in form surely longed to express through the Sagrada Família.

David Jou (Sitges, 1953) is a physicist, poet and essayist. Professor of Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, he is an author of an internationally renowned research on non-equilibrium thermodynamics. He has published a wide poetical work in Catalan language, which, among other topics, scientific ones (The scriptures of the Universe. Poems on science) and religious ones (Poemes sobre ciència i fe, Poemes de Nadal i de Setmana Santa, Cartografies de Déu, Cant espiritual, Trenta poemes sobre el Parenostre i els Salms, ...). His essays combine science, humanities and religion, in books as Dios, cosmos, caos (Horizontes del diálogo entre ciencia y religión), Pensar la Creació, La poesía de linfinit (ciència i mística), Materia y materialismo, El laberinto del tiempo, Introducción al mundo cuántico, ... He has been a member of the board of the Fundació Joan Maragall (Cristianisme i cultura) for some thirty years.
